Ogura Industrial presents... High-Torque Magnetic Brakes

Ogura Industrial has developed two new models of the OPB family of magnetic particle brakes. These two new models - the OPB 120N and OPB 250N - are rated at 110in-lbs and 220in-lbs, respectively (the largest previous type of OPB brake was rated at a mere 70lbs).

Heat dissipation from the 120N is 80 watts, and from the 250N is 100 watts. Both brakes, however, have the option to mount a fan to the housing, which increases heat dissipation to 200 and 240 watts, respectively. The brakes are designed for tension control of foil, film, wire, and paper, although there are many other applications that can benefit from soft stops. Output torque is directly controlled by input voltage/current, allowing torque to be set quickly and accurately.
